It is the last day for my Summer Shop in the gallery at 84 Wallace St Braidwood for 2020. All the dolls will now go back into my fYREWORKSHOPS studio.
Some of this Summer's newly dressed vintage Patsy Dolls are already online at www.etsy.com/au/shop/VintagePatsyDolls
What an interesting Summer it has been here in Braidwood, NSW. 2020 will be remembered as the Summer of feroscious bush fires, crazy storms with flash-floods and hail the size of golf balls, followed by huge dust storms rolling across the driest landscape in decades and dumping first dust and then rain falling as mud from black skies overhead. So it has been a challenging time for all our local shops with road closures, farm evacuations and call outs for the volunteer fire fighters.
And in between I have been sewing and knitting up a storm of my own. Several smaller Patsy dolls from my vinatge collection have new clothes, including a wonderful 1930s "Anne Shirley" look-alike who is wearing an original EffanBee 1920s Patsy Joan outfit that has been lovingly mended and carefully fitted to the little composition doll with her signature fair pigtails. She is a rare piece of social history giving us a glimpse of how the "make-and-mend" tradition of the Great Depression included a much loved special doll.
She is listed in my Etsy shop for $85 AUD including shipping.

If you love a cowgirl (and let's face it, who doesn't), then you will be delighted to know that I have one for sale in the 2020 Summer Pop-Up. It is an EffanBee Patsy Anne tribute to the Shirly Temple motion picture of the 1930s that celebrated the Texas Rangers. She stands 46 cm (18") from boots to hat and dates from the early 1970s. In excellent condition, she is adorable. $200 AUD www.etsy.com/shop/VintagePatsyDolls

My vintage and antique Patsy dolls from EffanBee will be on show and for sale for at 84 Wallace St in Braidwood as I bring them into the gallery space as a Summer pop-up. I plan to set up my workshop tables and create new clothes for the dolls right on the spot."

Hello and welcome to my workshops (old dolls and more ☺
I am the Director of FyreWorkshops, Braidwood NSW, and passionate about all things handmade. A creative knitter, I love inventing patterns and clothing friends and family. Over the past 40 years I have collected the special vintage Patsy Dolls of the early 20th C. from the USA. Since leaving full time work in 2007 I have been busy restoring, redressing them using authentic vintage patsy patterns. I have been delighted to offer them them for sale to fellow collectors and others who love beautiful dolls ever since I opened my ETSY Shop back in 2009.
